That is really nice! I had no idea that they made a military variant of that shotgun. I bought an original in 1965 for $96.00, shot it a few times, then swapped it for a really old Model 12 Winchester.

Did the old 1200s have a steel receiver?
I had a couple of those over the years and they all had aluminum receivers. Just wondering as I didn't think parkerizing "stuck" to aluminum. |

Thanks for the info. The 1200 action is one of my favorites. Externally the bolt reminds me of an overgrown AR-15 bolt. Internally the bolt reminds me of a Benelli- my 1200/1300s would eject the shell on their own if I didn't hold the front handguard. For some reason the 1200/1300s never got much respect. I strongly prefer them over a Remington or a Mossberg. |

It is truly rare to see an original Winchester M1200 trench gun. My M1200 clone started life as a 1965 1200 that my Dad gave to me years ago. I lucked out and found an original stock and forend and a reproduction heat shield with bayonet lug. If you notice the rear sling swivel is not like the 1903 swivels that you see but rather they are flat and I have found that one from an M79 grenade launcher stock is the correct one for these. The receiver is aluminum and I painted mine with Aluma-Hyde II flat black and parkerized the steel parts.

The heat shield I got from Sarco and it was advertized for a Model 97. I believe these are Chinese and are the same ones that come on Norinco 97's. I've heard that a true trench gun barrel won't fit in these, that they are sized for commercial barrels. |

Hi I have an erley 1200 marked WASH. STATE PATROL but whean I got it it was missing a slide arme and the foarme was lose it was missing a funney bat wing washer under the foarme nut I havent ben abel to find the righ washer so I replaced it with a newer nut ther thiker like the ones in the photos in this thread the onley imieg Iv found of it was a scane of a arne manel fron 68 I think so just wondreng if entey of you ahve found this and duse entey one know howe to date thes things thanks E.

my unit in Iraq in 04-05 had a mix of mossberg 500's and winchester 1200's. later in 05 a memo came out asking for turn in of all 1200's for more mossbergs as they did not have any spare parts/armorer support for the 1200's
