# 00011 on GB. No reserve & a low starting bid of $29,999.99 .

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=189100700

Too bad the seller only shows 3 pictures.

Do I even have to say it? If it were mine it would not be on GB.

If I had that kind of money, I'd pick up a couple of M16's instead.  Maybe those police turn-in 614's...

Could get a couple of real 601's for that price I think.

No thanks.  For that kind of money I'll take 1970 SS Chevelle with a 4 speed, or a minty RIA M60E2 with plenty of extras.  That guy is out of his mind if he thinks there is a $30k market for that.  If there is, it ain't on GB.  He also seems to be dreaming about the value of a DOE upper.

Well, sure, at first glance it might seem expensive...but you have to consider everything you're getting!
There's a green-handled bayonet––that's worth a cool grand even without the right scabbard.
And that scope is probably worth 3 bills, easy.
And to my eye, that looks like an original sling––could bring a C-note on its own (you know––if you find the right buyer)!
Admittedly, I don't know anything about this "great Colt coffee table book" he refers to (other than that it might have been translated from Japanese to English using babelfish: "These are from first production for special run "?), but hey, let's say that's worth $50.

Run all that through the old calculator, and really, you're only paying $28,549.99 (plus shipping) for the actual rifle!
That sounds a little more reasonable...right?

Even if I had all the cash in the world, I don't think the rifle is worth more than $5K without the extras.
I'd rather have a 601 for less money.
I picked up a "run of the mill" full auto converted SP1 lower for $7K so a semi auto SP1, even an ultra low number, is worth less.
Just my opinion which isn't worth half as much as you paid for it.

Really, the only added value on that SP1 is the fact it's probably the very 1st day of production of SP1s,so historically that adds value. But I certainly agree, not $30 K worth.

And the fact that of the first 10, so many are in museums, historical collections, and a few probably went to Colt executives.  So this being likely the earliest ser.# in private hands has some
prestige value; but I still cant see it being worth more than 5-10K.

I like the Chevelle idea too.
