My final retro parts came back from U.S. Anodizing yesterday. Both are built on NDS lowers. The top one is an XM16E1 with three prong FH and solid butt plate. 1970's Colt thin barrel and Colt upper receiver. The lower is my XM177E2 using a Double Star LW barrel that I cut and threaded on my lathe. Overall barrel length is 16.5". It is pinned and welded. The front sling swivel is held on by a roll pin. I also made an attempt at my own C MP C markings. The stock is an old Bushmaster aluminum stock that I had powder coated. The upper is a PM forge code but I removed that prior to refinishing. I also removed the flashing on the front sight tower.

Do you know the maker of the stamp set,font size and style? I've been looking for a set. |

Sexy as HELL! God I gotta get my 177e2 done
I really like how your powder coat turned out. I was planning about a million coats of semi gloss to see if i could get that affect, but yours looks a way better idea! Brick |

Yes! Really very nice. I have been contemplating an XM177 build for some time now. Maybe after I finish up the XM16.

ETA: How did you get the sear pin on the 603 to look so real, and what internals (BCG, LPK, buffer) did you use for it? |

regards, Raplh +1 The LPK is all USGI surplus, the BCG is all Colt and I think the buffer is Bushmaster. As for the sear pin, I cut about .040" off each end of a sear pin on my lathe. Then I scratched a small divit in the sear pin location and epoxied the ends of the pins in place. |

I've been asked what the secret was to doing the sear pin. No big secret, just careful work. No drilling of holes just make the back of the pin and the part of the receiver rough enough for good epoxy to hold. If it falls off, do it again.
