Don't laugh too loud - I had one of these when I was a kid too....a long time ago.

Very noisy and, IIRC, the very front end (flash hider) reciprocated as the "rifle" was fired.

Oh, man; you guys just had to stir the memory pot, didn't you???  

When I was just a lad (1950's), I had a "tommy gun" made of green plastic, styled after the Thompson but without a stock; the mag was integral and way too wide; the pistol grip was more 1911 than Thompson; and it had a red plastic thingie coming out of the barrel that I guess was supposed to be fire...Big mutha; I forget how it fired...crank on the side, maybe??? I dunno...

Don't know who made it or I'd start bidding on one...  

Edit: Found one on eBay!!! It must be a later model than the one I had, as it's camouflage, not solid green...

More old memories...there was a toy tin M3 "grease gun", that had a wind-up ratcheting "key" on the side...Heavy, I think it shot caps...
