Here is what I'm working towards. It's a 6.8SPC. I think I'm going to call it a model 668 (unless there already is one). Anybody know?
I have most of the bits and pieces. I just need some barrel work done.... and I have to decide if it's going to have a forward assist or be a slickside.  GhostRing was kind enough to whip this pic up for me. |

It's possible. I did an A1 in 7mm Benchrest for a friend some years back. Numrich barrel blank + AR extension; Clymer reamed chamber; 7.65 bolt; modified mag. Haven't had any complaints...I haven't heard anything from him, in fact...I married his girlfriend...

Is that a store-bought lower, or one of Justin's AR45 lowers???  With a little barrel work, you could make a DOE 45 out of that...

Woot?? I've never really been interested in the 9mm carbines, but .45ACP??? Never heard of that. How does it run? Hiccup, burp, fart, or scalded cat raped ape,etc...? That sounds like one of those, Why didn't I think of that?? deals. Need more tech info!!!

DAMMIT!!! Looks like mine! Except I have the four position EA stock, flat slip ring & the 5.5" Oly fake moderator. Oh & yours has a mag catch, Mitch Jones lost mine. I'm fixin to correct that today. |

It's a CNC/Khalan lower, but out of the first batch that was on time and in spec unlike the rest.   I thought about doing it DOE style, but decided to stay non-nfa, at least for now. It's got a flat-top, so I can't say it's retro in the strictest sense, but it is a lot of fun. This thing really makes me wish I had a DIAS. It runs like a raped ape, I'm planning on hanging an integral suppressor on it at some point, but that's on the backburner, so it's staying retro until then. @Beel: Check out this thread for info on .45 conversions. |

I see I'm not alone. I was just thinking how nice would an XM177 in .458 Socom or .50 Beowolf be? Something light and compact with a little wham to it. Something to work close in with. If I could only have an SBR here in Iowa.

Disregard the FA and magazine but this is a mock-up of the 45acp build I should have completed in the next few weeks. The tax stamp and lower are already here. I need to buy some more grease gun mags to modify for it though.

Not that I'm aware of. But one never really knows for sure. 656 is the highest 600-series number I'm aware of though. |

Here's a picture of one of my modified GG mags. I had to squeeze down the body slightly, and shave the follower to make it fit in the magwell.

who me yeah I’ve done a few AR15 variants … my latest build is a ‘Retro’ish’ XM-177 it’s built on a .221R Barrel, I call this build a ARK-15  XM-177 Retro Parts List • Olympic Arms SS .221R barrel assembly 1:8 twist rate. • Olympic Arms 5.45x39mm BCG-Kit w/ bolt and firing pin. • A1 upper receiver w/ tear drop forward assist and w/o case deflector. * • Olympic Arms barrel 16in / cut to 11.5in (pinned and welded) with 5.5in. “Slotted” Flash Hider. • Gas hole on the barrel will be opened up .002 larger. • SNS MAX-15 Skull lower receiver. • Olympic Arms (LPK). • CAR type (3) position collapsible buttstock. * • A1 USGI pistol grip * • Triangle style handguards w/ aluminum liner. * • Flat-Style Delta ring * ( * ) denotes used part: A1 upper receiver w/ tear drop forward assist.  CAR style (3) position collapsible buttstock.  SNS MAX-15 Skull lower.  Retro’ish XM177 lower assembly  Old School Triangle type handguards w/ liner.    I also had this (old style) U.S. Air Force emblem laser engraved on my Retro’ish lower … this work was preformed by a local Trophy Shop.    note the R stamp marking on the bolt just below the cam-pin location, and also note the modified firing pin tip in the photo above, as it’s been slightly trimmed back in order to lengthen the tip so it can strike the deeper set primers on this imported ammunition.  “a very unique carbine with a little something different under the hood”         The C/Products® 5.45x39mm SS … I ordered this (30) round AR15 variant magazine three months ago and it finally arrived; I suspect that this magazine is going to be much more reliable and functional than using the 6.8SPC that the carbine is currently utilizing.         |

I finished my 45ACP AR this afternoon. It looks sweet, and seems to function as it should. We'll see how it shoots soon.

think about it,,if old equals obsolete, then why does marlin still sell lever guns? if it fits your needs,,,build it. |

I don't beleive old equals obsolete at all. I prefer older equipment of all sorts. Old guns, old cars, old houses, old radios, you name it. My daily driver vehicle is 40 years old and I love it. It has things I understand and can fix, like a carb, and points and condenser ignition.
