Thanks guys !

I have been told that it is not a 1978 ? But I will call Colt and find out for sure in the morning. I was also told that its stock is not original for a SP 1 Sporter. I bought it used in 83 I believe. But all in the pics came with it , along with 15 Colt mags of diff size's.

Nice Carbine!

Check out the "SP1 Database" at the top of this forum. A 1978 SP1 would have a 5 digit serial number (my 1979 does!).

Either way, a very desireable piece - enjoy.

I guess I bought it and it was made in 1984 as that is what Colt MFG told me by the serial # , sigh ! I guess I am getting old ! LOL ! Now I just have to figure out where my 78 is ????

Thanks for the help guys ! I did find the original butt stock for it in the closet though !
