I just picked up a unfired A1 Vietnam era M16 upper for $290 at a show. Decent price?

Did you get the bolt and carrier with it? If so then you got a VG deal, if not, it was a OK deal.

i see well used ones on EE for $250 and up.  if it's unfired, it's worth the extra $40 for me.

Good price.! I saw 3 of them complete without bolt/carriers for $135 at a show 2 years ago and I regret every day not picking them up.

If it's an original, unfired, Colt era piece then that's a good deal.

I've seen those go for $350-400 in unfired (or like-new) condition.  Shoot, CDDN was selling them for $369. 2 years ago. (I know, I bought one )

I was lucky about 3 years ago and bought 2 complete A1 upper assemblies (unfired) from CDNN complete with Colt M16 bolt assemblies and charging handles.

If I'd only had a little more money then...

Oh well, you can still find good stuff on the EE.

no bolt carrier, he had them seperate for 125. I still think I did ok. I have a older grey lower it matches up with. I have a old surplus buttstock also, but it looks like the foam filler expanded over the years inside the bore and it wont fit over the buffer tube now. Needs reamed, I might chuck it and look for a better one. Dont think its worth messing with.
