I always thought Olt made game calls. I never knew that they made AR15 rifles also!

Shouldn't the selector positions say "Afe" and "Ire"
Ire would actually work well as a selector position.

Are you sure there was not a repair done to the receiver? They could have filled in the letters when the repair was done.

How the hell did that get through final inspection? Doesn't Colt have any quality control at all? I work at G.E. and I tell you ,something like that would have never left the stamper's workstation. That one would have wound up getting cut in half with a bandsaw and tossed in a scrap barrel .

Oh shit it must be worth $50,000! It's one of the US Mint mistake receivers! Very collectible.

Doesn't look like Photoshop and I've been using it for 16 years. If it is I'll offer the person a job.

Pretty cool, I would use it... and be happy about it.

I plan on using it!! No photoshop and the black paint visible in the bolt catch roll pin area is common on SP1 AR15 rifles. The whole legend stamping is shifted to the left. Look at the FIRE stamp location in relationship to the selector.

So..what kind of lower is it?

I'd laugh if it was an M16A1.

Lower had selector markings "Safe" and "Fire" it looks to be an SP1 receiver.

+1

Still have traces of that on the bolt release pin and stock nut staking areas on my 1977 purchased SP1.

It is a Colt SP1 Lower made in 1982.

You gotta love these little "mistakes"  or oversights that get through QA and make it to us.

I'd show it with pride!!

Thanks for sharing your pics.
