I thought I would start here in the Retro section.  Mod please move if need be.

Yesterday I picked up eight 20 round and four 30 round mags from a I guy I work with.  He got out of the hobby and had these mags to get rid of.  I gave him $100.00 for ten Colts, one Adventure Line and one Orlite.

My questions have to do with eight 20 round Colts.

Four of the mag bodies are marked with Universals "UI" symbol.  The other four have no markings.

Two of the floor plates are marked:
                                                    (PONY) COLT AR-15
                                                              CAL: .223
Colt's PT. F.A. MFG. CO. INC.
                                                 HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.

Two are marked:
                         (PONY) CAL. 5.56 MM
                         COLT'S FIREARMS DIVISION
                         COLT INDUSTRIES
                         HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.

Four are markd:
                         (PONY) COLT AR-15
                         CAL. 5.56 MM
COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. INC.
                         HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.

Now I'm assuming that over the years the floor plates and mag bodies had been switched around due to cleaning or some other reason.

My question is which floor plate belongs with the bodies that are marked with the "UI" symbol?   All have alloy followers.

Thanks for the help.

The 2 middle ones should have plastic followers and no UI marks.

The 223 marked mags should have alloy followers and unmarked bodies.  If the floorplates on the 223 ones are lighter, silverish, the mag bodies should have a circle 1 on the mag body.  223 marked mags are old USAF.

Guys thanks for the info so far.  None of them have Circle 1.  Just the four with "UI".  Anybody know time frame and floor plates for these?
