Hi all,I'm building a couple retro 20" rifles one a slickside sorta along a 604 style and the other based on a cdnn a1 upper.My question is what color are the selector,trigger,mag release, takedown and pivotpin  supposed to be? do i norrells them to match the upper?sorry if this sounds stupid i just can't find the answer through all those black&white pics ...thanks

Your supposed to leave them the way the are...they are steel so they are  parkerized "black"....only the aluminum upper/lower are the anodized "grey"

All the steel parts are parked and are light gray.

The hammer, trigger, disconnector, selector, and bolt catch usually have a black phosphate finish. M16 parts that went through depot refurbishing were usually parkerized to a light to medium gray while the receivers were coated with a black finish. Almost exactly the opposite of the way they started out.

My personal preference is a lighter gray receiver with darker components. I do like for the ejection port cover to match pretty close though.

My factory Colt M16A1 has the factory Colt dark gray finish. The components are a bit darker with exception of the selector which has a green tint to it.
