Goes to just exactly how does the ATF say on one hand the brace can't be shouldered, and on the other hand knowingly be aware of models for other kinds of pistols? Did the new models precipitate the latest letter, or what?

The brace is as legal on a pistol as originally intended.

the brace may be legal because at least on an ar it already had the tube so your not really adding a "stock"


but when you start adding a tube, or extension or some sort of mount like on the ak as they never had one in pistol configuration
or on those other guns shown in the link I think there even if you slip off the brace, is there still a "stock" you can then shoulder the pistol

or does removing the brace, also remove all other parts to make the pistol back to stock form

Yep. Just don't shoulder it, and you're GTG. Also worth noting is that, sometimes, the braced models have provisions that would make them much easier to turn into SBRs.
