Have killed 5 deer with the Nosler 125gr BT loaded in the 300 BLK. All bullets expanded. All passed through except one. Very pleased with the performance and accuracy.
Edited to add: Here's a pic of the one recovered bullet. Never found the jacket. The bullet hit the deer 187yd away. Clipped the spine and then went through lungs and stomach, stopping just under the hide at the belly. Deer was leaning down to eat when I fired from a 15' high stand.

We've had excellent luck wtih the On Target Ammo 125gr Speer TNT load. The guys at Houston Armory swear by that load RE pig killin'.

Depends how big are your deer? Small southern WT-110-125gr. Large northern WT 125gr- 150gr. My load for deer -Mule Deer 150 gr Speer BT!

Wow a 187 yard kill that's impressive I ranged the down deer with a laser range finder. I had plenty of time for the shot and for me to calm down. For ME, it was a very long shot. It was the oldest doe and the furthest I've ever killed a deer. The mature doe with her then ran perpendicular to me, and I got her through the lungs at 170yd, with her going about 50yd before falling. Oh, and this is the pic I sent my representative and senators to prove that I deer hunt with an AR (besides the 2nd Amendment facts).

I took this button buck at about 165 yards with a 155 gr SPBT blem (probably A-max). Entered just behind the left shoulder and exited just behind the rib cage on the right side. He ran just far enough to get to the middle of a blackberry patch. Next time I think I'll go with the 110 gr V-Max.

I took two with the 110 Vmax this past fall, a small doe and a fairly large bodied buck. Both were close shots, less than 50 yards.
I wasn't 100% sure how the Vmax would perform but at Blackout velocities I think it's probably ok. Since it's so lightly constructed I'm guessing you would want to not shoot through the shoulder. I did not recover either bullet, they both passed through and destroyed the heart and lungs. Next year I plan to try the Barnes black tip. |

I stopped using lead core bullets for hunting several years ago. I could care less about antlers or trophies, I kill deer to eat, and the amount of lead contamination due to vaporization is an issue, alot of meat can be lost if you dont take a neck/lung shot, while a Barnes black tip passing thru the shoulder merely requires a rinsing and toss the minced meat into the burger grinder.

I practice shoot with the Remington 115 grain stuff and when I tried the barnes black tip they were impacting about 6 inches to the right VS my zero with the Remington stuff. So I had to quit shooting them! The green tip Nosler ballistic tips that I hunt with now work great and they have basically the same POI as the Remington stuff so I switched to them.
