Where can I found uppers in 338 spectre? Does anyone have firsthand experience with them, shooting and loading? I have read all the faqs, I have a sbr lower, and I have a liberty mystic that seems like would work great with this caliber, just can't find any for sale!

I'd check with Marty at Teppo Jutso. He also has an account here, but I can't remember his name.

I believe SBR Ammunition is the only place to get one now.....MartyW (the guy behind Teppo Jutsu) is out of the country and not currently taking orders.

ETA: ADCO used to keep a couple in stock....may be worth a call.

It's what the 300 BO wants to be when it grows up.

SBR makes uppers and barrels. Brass is formed from 10mm Magnum, which Starline currently has in stock. Dies are available from two sources.

Here's some load data.

HEY, That's my line!

And it could not be more true.  The Spectre does just what the BO does but does it with a bigger payload that is 1/3 heavier, ergo, smacks with a lot more momentum and energy.  It suppresses easily with any 9mm handgun suppressor, and while you can make cases from 6.8 SPC brass, it is a bit of a PITA and using 10mm MAG brass is super easy.  Just size and done.  Brass lasts seemingly forever and you use standard 6.8 mags and bolts.

I agree, for someone with a 68 already the 338 Spectre makes the most sense, same mags, same bolts same shell holder ect... all I needed for mine was dies brass and a upper that Marty was nice enough to build before he headed out overseas.... I havent been able to play with mine as much as I want to but when I do it rings steel very well and I cant wait to use it as my around the farm gun....

I keep flip flopping between .338spectre and the .300blk.  I've already got the parts to build both except the barrel.  For those of you that reload the .338, is it easy to keep 250gr Sub-sonic out of a 10.5" barrel and still cycle without a suppressor?

Yes it is.  I have a Palladin 3 position GB on mine and can shoot either way.

I run 250s and 300s out of mine with no problem keeping them subsonic and the 8.5 inch I have runs 100% with either load.  Both bullets will go supersonic if I push them but that sort of defeats the purpose of shooting big bullets now doesn't it?  Two more inches of barrel is not going to matter any.  You may want to use a handgun gas port though and run it wide open.  I did not measure my port but I am pretty sure it is at max, ≤ .125 inch, it's a huge freaking hole.

Thanks for all the input. Hopefully sbr will get back with me next week or I can find an upper somewhere else...

Already having a couple 6.8's, I had been thinking for some time about building a 338 Spectre.  Unfortunately I waited too long, now I'd imagine the very few makers of barrels will have to wait many months before they could fill an order.  If I'm wrong please let me know, but I'd want a 14.5" barrel.

This thread made me decide to finish my 338 Build, rail and muzzle device ordered and 300 rnds of loaded ammo coming from SBR to see if it was the reloads or the rig acting funny....

If money were no object and pure performance the goal I would take the 338 over the 300 every time. 338 bullets are quite a bit more money though so for me personally I will go the whisper route if I want a dedicated suppressed gun.
