Elfy,
The RECON did come with the sling swivel attachment. It can be moved to the side or top of the quadrail. I like the rifle. The trigger was unspeakable, so I took it out and replaced it with a Rock River 2 stage 3.5 lb. unit. Like the RR trigger it breaks perfectly. Also way easy to install. The stainless barrell takes about 200 rounds to break in, according to DPMS. They are right. You should follow their barrell break-in formula. I will be benching the rifle in the next few weeks while working up loads, and we'll see what it will do on a proper range with a real rest. Then its off to a 600 yard tactical range for fun and games.
Glk34,
The rear sight is just there for now occupying space. It is sighted in on the very last rear groove in the top rail. If the scope fails, off it comes and I move the rear sight back. If the need to change occurs at a bad time..oh well, just empty the magazine in the general direction then run like h3ll. The ancient leupold is temporary anyway. I mounted it to work up loads. Once I have my ideal loads prepared, I'm not sure whether I will just go with the battle sights, or do something else. The new NIKON M308 seems interesting, but in reality, unless my loads match the BDC exactly, I would be better off with equivalent optics with mil dots.
