I am thinking of building a 6.8 gun for my wife to deer hunt with. The problem is I can't find many of the parts I know i can use a 5.56 upper and a 6.8 barrel. What has to be 6.8 and what doesn't?

Bolt, barrel & mags...that's it...6.8 was designed to be a simple conversion in an AR platform.

You can buy a complete upper for less than $500 from ARPerformance.  Excellent quality and after building a few, I'd just buy one - but that's me.
