Who can I get a 16'' barrel from that isn't going to force me to sell a kidney to fund it the only place I see them in stock is Noveske right now 400$+ is not doable.

I think I will stay with the 300 whisper as all of mine cycle without a can when shooting sub ammo if needed,
It seems the blackout doesn't per noveske on the website.

Ronaldmwilliams here on the forum is reaming 300-221 barrels to the new 300 BLACKOUT.  I have one on the way.  Price is right for a home built BLACKOUT.

As for the cycling with subsonics:  Should be pretty damn close to what the Whisper offers.  The only major difference is the throat length.  A properly tuned pistol length gas system *should* cycle everything pretty effectively.

I think this has more to do with the size of the gas port Noveske is using. They might have set it up to cycle this way and not vent to much gas back into the action on purpose, thinking most would use subsonics with a can only.

I think the Noveske barrel is a pretty good deal, money wise. When you factor in the lo-pro gas block ($40-$50) and the
gas tube ($10-$15)  Then you have to factor in the price of having the gas block PINNED ($30-$40) included on Noveske.
When you do that.....the barrel is not much more, if ANY,  than a stripped barrel from just about anyone that has a good
reputation.  When you factor in the PAC NOR blank and the poly rifling.....the Noveske is hard to beat.  Please be
aware than my opinion is completely biased.

So is the 300 AAC Blackout the next best thing? I have been seeing alot about it and it looks to be a great choice for the AR15 platfrom. My question is..... AMMO! Is the 300 blkout going to be available or is it going to go the way of the 6.8 spc? I have a 5.56 and the only way I'll change is if I can get ammo the same way I can get 5.56/.223! What do the AR15.comers say?

First supersonic 123grain rounds shipped for $12.50 a box (already beating lowest priced 6.8).  Brass (every 556/223 case ever made can be converted to 300BLK), Projectile... any surplus 30cal from 145grain tracers to pulled 175s can be loaded cheaply.  Will never need a proprietary bolt or mags.  This is a winning concept and a natural compliment to 556.  This was a popular wildcat before standardization and before 6.8.  I think 6.8 has its place and will stick around but If I had to choose between them Id go with 300BLK to compliment my 556s and 308.

Gas port sizing and placement are big factors for this round.  The 123gr Supersonic and the 220gr Subsonic factory loads are designed to work with the AAC offering.  They use a Carbine Length gas port placement on their 16" barrels.  A lot of folks are using pistol length gas ports on ANY length barrel in the 300 Whisper and 300-221 Fireball.  The fact that handloaders can load 175gr pull downs or 180gr 308's subsonic will require larger gas ports to operate normally.  If you are going to use factory loads only, then consider going with the carbine length gas ports on longer barrels.  In my humble opinion, a pistol length gas port with an adjustable gas block is the way to go with this round, because of the varied pressures you can generate depending on the desired speed and the vast bullet selections possible in .308.

Where can you get the ammo from? Midway, Brownells? Is Remington the only producer?

So far, only Remington.  They are under the same parent company as AAC.

Midway does carry it, but it sold out in a couple hours last week, or maybe the week before.

Is the bbl. twist rate of 1-8 (1-7),set up for suppressors or is it the velocity/pressure the reason .
Or is it ,I'm just thinking in terms of what a 30 cal. bullet is normally shot out of a certain twist ( 1-10,1-11.? & 1-12 )

I plan on building one with a 16" bbl. & may or may not use it for suppressor use. May just use it supersonic.
