I'm upgrading from .223 to .308 and have been shooting DPMS ARs for years. Love the way they shoot and look. For nothing more than "Coolness Factor" I am considering ordering it with the fluted barrel and .308 comp. Here is a photoshopped image I made of what it would look like

I also am an avid shooter and want to know what the advantages/disadvantages of having said accessories on the rifle. Anyone ever shoot a compensated LR308? What's the advantage of fluting? THX

i have that exact gun. the fluting takes off weight whick needs to be done. and that comp works very good the only bad thing and this is with most is when i was out hunting that thing will realy ring your ears. i end up taking it off and the kick is't bad at all manyly cause the weight

Do you think the comp makes any noticeable improvement? SHould I just flute the barrel and leave it at that?

flute it, and you do notice the difference. when shoot it really helps keep your eyes open becasue there is very little recoil.
