I just added a Royal Arms pistol grip and have a JP trigger on the way...other than that..it's a stock rifle...no need to change something that works so well...I don't belong to any free image hosting places, or else I would post my pictures...I can email them though.

Running an ARFX stock, G27 grip, SWS 4 rail tube, Vortex fs, Eotech 512, KAC anti walk trigger and hammer pins, KAC vert grip, SR25 mags and a Surefire 6P.  When I don't feel like being 'CQB-uber-tactical', I remove the vert grip and install a Harris bipod and a Weaver 4-16x scope.

ETA:  My mom claimed my Streamlight pictured over Christmas, and I couldn't turn down a little old lady in need of a good glovebox light.  It's got the Surefire on it now until I can afford an M3 or better.

ETA again:  Mine used to look just like ARsR4Me's.  I bought a 16" upper directly from DPMS and sold the 24" on the EE after finding out that it's just as accurate with half the weight.

target speaks for itself.  The 'flyers' were my fault--I got excited and pushed the shots a little.  The vertical stringing only happens with the 168gr Federal GM.  The squares are exactly 1 inch by 1 inch

Is that group with the 16"er or the 24" barrel ?  Nice grouping either way.

that one was with the 24" and a Nightforce 5.5-22X scope.  I sold both of them awhile back when I realized that I just don't need those kind of capabilities for the shooting I do--backyard plinking and hunting in heavy brush.  I've got a few targets hanging in my office now from the 16"--I haven't shot it for groups at more than 100 yds, but 1/2" (5 shot) ragged holes at 100 yds is the norm, not the exception.

Railed gasblock
Added a SP1 stock to it.

My LR-308 started life as a 24" was cut to 20".

Here's my 18" carbine, factory fluted barrel, SPR grip, ATN 5x33LU scope.

Still need to get a bi-pod stud mounted and will probably put an RRA match trigger in it, shoots great but still need to bench it.

Anyone else have the 18" tube? I am thinking of going to the 16" lighter barreled upper, comments?

Jeff

I've got a buddy who bought an 18" just like yours right before I bought my 24". I love the looks of them. After I saw the black 18" barrel it made me get my 24" caoted black. Sweet looking piece.
I will have to have a 16" upper for mine too.

Did you have to make any other modifications to keep the rifle functioning after cutting the barrel off 4 inches?
really like the look of the short barrel and long forearm.

With Harris bipod, Sightron SII416X42MD, and Leupold QRW rings:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/bonifacio7/LR308-01.jpg

About a year old now, and ready to start tuning the reloads. So far the best have been with 168-gr SMK and 43.5 -gr IMR 4064.

At 100 yards, shooting prone, from the bipod and my shoulder at the stock:
Best 4-round group = Ø0.32
Best  3-round group = Ø0.25
Most 4-round groups (as I usually shoot) range Ø5/8" to Ø3/4".
If I could only get rid of the one flier in four, all the groups would be Ø1/2" and under.

Also need to try from bags or rest.

Dude,

What front sight are you using? Any problem getting the elevation right with the higher flat top upper?

I really think I want to sell or trade my 18" bull upper for a 16" T model.

The front sight is a clamp on. I milled a weaver scope base down to .245 and attached it to the top of the gas block to get the required height.

Great info, I had thought that might do the trick but did not know what the height should be.

How do you like the 16" T barrel? Does it swing faster than the 18" bull?

I like mine but it is a bit front heavy for a carbine length (essentially) rifle.

I also turned the barrel down to a light weight contour under the hand guard, this seamed to help alot for rifle balance.

If you notice the gas block on my 24" its designed to match the extra heighth of the DPMS upper rail. So any sights will work. DPMS has them on their web site for $69.00
