My 11" vtac wont work as planned on my 11.5" SBR build.

More or less due to suppressor / mount clearance.

So 10" rails are what I need. Ideally is love a 10" vtac, but they are not made.

So..... What 10" rails should I look at?

Eta: anyone cut down a vtac?

Midwest GEN2 SS.

Cutting a vtac/troy back to 10" would leave some of the vent holes open-ended on the front.

Interesting.

I'm interested in the mounting system.

How strong is the gen 2 mounting system on the t series and ss series?

It looks like others are moving away from the clamping system.

Samson Evolution 10" is one of my favorites, and has a large ID for suppressors that fit inside the HG. Bulletproof mount and construction.

I believe that Nordic components' mid length tube is 9.75 inches.

I'm running the 12" on 2 different rifles and I like 'em.  They aren't the lightest, but they aren't heavy and they work.

My comment on the Gen2 SS was based on the similarity between it and the vtac.

If I were looking for a 10 inch rail, the C4 would be it. I had the c4 midlength cut-out and regret selling it.

10-4.

I do like tubes better than a quad.

This is frustrating.

I was gonna recommend the centurion to you but I thought you wanted a slick side for some reason. Centurion makes excellent rails. I'm running the 12" and have been for almost 9 months I think. Its been perfect to me. I'll be picking up a 10" right after christams for a new build.

Something to note. As far as quad rails go the c4 is one of the thinnest .

Yeah at 2" I think the centurion is leading the pack now.

I like the standard barrel nut design.

Buy once - cry once seems to apply here for this.

SLR makes a pretty rugged 10" rail.

DD has one slimmer. I don't remember which one and whether or not it is a free float.
I really can't say enough good about the C4 though. Easy on. Easy off for things like cleaning the barrel and lubing it. I know its subjective but I also think its the best looking quad out there as well.

I have a C4 9".  It's not a bad rail, but it never struck me as super skinny.  I will say that it is ridiculously solid, and easy to install.

Aside from the RIS II, I agree. And centurion definitely has DD beat in the weight dept.

Fin-
You got the YHM QD 5.56?

It will clear.

I've tried looking for the photos of my friend's rifle with my 308 can on it.

11.5" barrel and Alpha 11" cheese grater HG.  5.56 QD mount.

I had 2 of them but I think they're MIA now.

Here's a 7.5" 22 I built with the 7.2 VTAC:

Between my friends and I we have like 5 Centurion Arms rails. They are good to go.

In stock too: Centurion Arms rail.

A 10" rail will work well in an 11.5.

Yes to the phantom 5.56.

I didn't know if the mount / collar + location if it at the edge of the rail would allow for the can to fully engage the mount while not touching the rail.
