I am trying to find a lower with no markings other than maker and s/n - no graphics, etc. I found a mil-surp FN A2 upper and want to refinish a lower to match and make an accurate semi-auto clone. I know I can get an NDS lower, but it's quite a wait and for now I want to get it built.
I did a search broadly as well as the archives here and found some recommendations (e.g., Rguns had stock, Deleware Machine), but those options are gone now and I don't know who makes a non-splashy lower? I had an Aero lower for this, but once putting them together the logo on the lower made it look all wrong. |
|
Wouldn't make an accurate lower for a clone, but the markings are very limited.

True, not accurate but a very interesting lower. Clean, minimal fence and no A2 bulge at the extension tunnel for a retro-ish look. Not cheap, but a darn interesting looking lower. Probably wouldn't use it because of the trigger guard, but it's very interesting to know about.

That is a good suggestions, and I did consider it. But given quality lowers are cheap again, I think I'll get one with the holes done well and not rely on myself. My dad has a drill press and the skills, but he's also got a health problem right now and I don't want to ask him to do it. Next year when he's back in battery I might consider that. But thanks for the suggestion.

Good stuff. That Essential is a great candidate - and their logo is vaguely enough like the "U.S. Rifle/U.S. Property" stamps on some M16A2's. Good match. I might grind the fence down to partial A1 and call that good. Have not seen that before.

I like LMT's rollmark. I just went through the same process for lowers that will become SBRs. I really wanted a Colt M4A1 rollmark but don't feel like spending 1500 for a SOCOM or 750 for the lower, So I ended up picking up a couple complete LMT lowers w/ SOPMODs.

If you don't want to wait for NoDak or McKay, you could try one of these:

That Fulton Armory one would be perfect with that U.S. mark if that's the way they come. I will check into that and where to get one/cost. We have a gun show next weekend, i can hit that and if nothing local is workable (which I doubt), then order one in. Our transfer prices have skyrocketed and even used guns taxed now; our state gov't. hates gun owners but is consitutionally limited - so they go after us where they can. So buying local is much cheaper and easier but in this case the look is more important.

I looked, too. they listed partially finished ones under "parts" but no finished stripped lowers.

I looked at your website, and didn't see uppers available. Do you guys do matching upper and lower sets? |

Aero is a very good and clean product.

Another option. This is a good quality 7075-T6 billet receiver set. I have one NIB just like it I've been trying to find a new home for

damnit! every time you post pics of your lower I spend an hour in my head trying to figure out how to convince the wife that "I neeed one!" |

So you want one of these.... View Quote Yeah, precisely. But I'd leave off the Colt if I had it engraved since it's an FN upper, give it an FN or other lower generic look to it. There's a lengthy wait for them now, plus our high tax/transfer costs (WA thing), and the engraving cost. I might do that next year when the budget isn't tight (a lot of guns and child expenses this summer). Who did the engraving for you? I may shop for someone next year. |

Just tell her that proceeds from the lower will go to a Charlestonian who's stranded in Oregon. ETA: I gotta get a better pic of the lower. The finish looks too rough in that pic but every time that I try and take a pic with my camera it doesn't come out as clear as that one. Cameras frustrate me. |

Rogue Defense here in Portland (Curts Discount Shooter Supply) is manufacturing their own lowers and they are very clean. Sharper lines than most but no extra markings. I have one in the truck and can post pics later.
May be only uppers. Im heading over later and will check on lowers. Im off-base |

Boom! No forge flash, no gouges from removal of flash, smooth even finish, guaranteed in spec. With no silly logos!

Just emailed that link to a friend of mine in "Dalworthington."
I have that in mind as a leading contender in this search, thanks! |
