If you want to save weight the lightweight barrels are usually the same weight or less and cost less than fluted barrels.
Fluting is one of those things that always divides people as far as benefits and detractors. |

If you like the fluting and dont mind the extra $, go for it.
If its the only barrel you can find in stock and you really need it, go for it. If its something you found in stock and are completely compromising what you want to build, at this point, id still go for it. I love the fluted 18" barrel in my Stag 3G.

I had ADCO flute a 20''BCM barrel for me,,, it is perfect with a Sopmod stock.. I had it Black-t'ed, for my SHTF rifle..[also very accurate ]
I also got one of the DSA 16''mid-length fluted uppers,, I like that one also... |

I got a nice Green Mountain barrel for $159 before the rush.

My Hogan 308 has a fluted Rock Creek barrel and I love it. The flutes help out with heat as well. Legion Firearms has some bad ass barrels too. And Noveske.
