According to their website, it is a "superior" upper, but it doesn't look any different from most others, and the specs read about the same.  No doubt the machining is as good as they claim, but there is no mention of additional strengthening.  I wonder how it compares to a more generic upper......

I am looking for a stripped uppper for a 6.5 Grendel build - what I really want is a VLTOR billet upper, but I don't know if I have the patience to wait.......meanwhile I've been looking for alternatives.  I want an upper with a little extra beef, and with a dustcover, but no forward assist.  Another choice would be a Sun Devil.

Thanks for any help with this.

There is another choice similar to the Sun Devil.  Check out the Side Charging upper from American Spirit Arms.  They look just like the Sun Devil upper but offer a non-reciprocating side charger.  I have two buillds that will be using them.  If you want more info check with Chris at Addax Tactical.  Chris has been using them on his GPU uppers with great success.

Don't think VLTOR makes their uppers using billet anymore.  I believe they've gone to a forged upper, that looks almost identical to their old billet model.

Black Rain Ordnance uses 7075 Billet.  No slick side right now.  Look at it on Gunbroker.

I have seen the Black Rain ones on Gun Broker, but have never heard of the company before,  and don't know their reputation.  I will check out the American Spirit version, and as far as the billet goes - I just want a little more rigidity in the upper.  I think a forged one with additional beef would be fine if they are even available from VLTOR.

Thanks for the help,  guys.

No one knows anything about the Les Baer upper?
