Has anyone tried this upper? It's the 20" barrel, 1:7 twist 5.56. Thinking about getting something. Sure would be nice to save with one of these instead of a more expensive one. Im looking to be able to shoot Mk262 ammo somewhere around 400 to 600 yrds.

Are you wanting to shoot 400 to 600 yds competatively or just for kicks?   Are you just getting started in rifle shooting?

If you are shooting 3 gun at targets that are human chest size it's one thing.  If you are trying to keep hits inside a 10" circle with open sights at 600 yards its another thing.

The Model 1 upper lacks certain features you should have in a competative match rifle if you want to shoot tight (MOA or less)groups at 200, 300, and 600 yds with iron sights.

Features that would be desireable are match chamber and bore 1:8 or faster twist rate.  Floated barrel, match sights that are adjustable in 1/4 or 1/8 moa increments.  Match trigger.

If you don't need 6" groups at 600 yards then the Model 1 will probably do.  If you are just getting started in competative shooting it may be a good starter until you are outperforming the rifle and need to move up.  Model 1 uses E.R. Shaw barrels which are a high quality barrel for general use., but not quite match standards.  (E.R. Shaw makes some great 10/22 barrels)

I'd like to keep the shots in a 10" circle at around 500yds. I have a lower with a 2 stage match trigger. What do you think of a LMT upper with a monolithic rail and an 18" 1:7 SS barrel? It's not a heavy barrel though. For the price I sure hope they're are very accurate.

M1S products?  They're good enough....

Grab a Sabre 20" from Bravo if they have any left.  Mate it with one of the upper receivers Bravo has for sale, you can ask if they'll mount the barrel for you.

I had a M1S with a E R Shaw 24" bull barrell 204 and I wasn't pleased with the accuracy of it at all.  best I could get with 3 different ammos was around 1.5 at 100 yrds.  My old M1S carbine 5.56 would only do about 2.5" groups at 100 yrds.  My new sabre 20" 5.56 puts all holes touching at 50 yrds by comparison.

How do they compare at the same distance?
