The reason the rear bottom is missing, is that Colt decided to become PC. By removing the rear you cannot use the carrier in a full auto gun. Its only use is in a semi auto only.
Personally I think it was a bad move. The extra weight really helps keep the guns running correctly. |

So the full circle carrier will work with a Colt lower with the sear block?

A full circle semiauto carrier will work with a sear block, but an M16 carrier will not. The rear of a full circle semi carrier still does not have as much steal as the M16 carrier.

Or you could take a file and mill off that damned hump. As noted above, it's nothing but a Colt attempt at political correctness.
Alternatively, if you are one of those who just have to leave the thing "original", get an M16 carrier, and grind the forward end back just far enough to clear the hump. That will get you pretty close to the full weight carrier, and still clear that POS thing sticking up. |

the Colt bolt carrier is open all the way to the back on the bottom. so that it can not be used with a lighting link it has nothing to do with the sear block and As noted above, it's nothing but a Colt attempt at political correctness
