Correct. They self tighten as you shoot.

Vic: Does this apply to the 308 AR-10 Vortex as well (or all Vortex's for that matter)?

Mark: I believe torquing it to 87 in-lb would work. I can't believe you missed an opportunity to use 87 legitimately!

Mark, should they be banned? If so, the 5.56 version or the .308 version. Let me guess... BOTH!?

I'm sure that Mark was under the impression that BOTH WERE ALREADY BANNED FROM CIVILIAN USE otherwise he would have addressed that issue.

I belive it was a previous version of the vortex that had the 'bossoming' problem. The current ones are the best FH on the market, and are made out of MUCH tougher steel than a phantom

That's because they are hardened.  I've found it much easier to mill the hole.........................only need one 1/8" end mill.

A carbide end mill in a drill press would work.  Chuck it up and go to town.

Yes.  I intalled it with only hand pressure and a couple thousand rounds later I decided to get rid of the tuning fork.  It required more effort to remove the vortex than I used to properly index the phantom with the crush washer.

How many threads are required for a proper/safe attachment (threads that actually contact the flash suppressor threads)?
