As my subject asks, what size is the allen screw holding the pistol grip to the lower reciever?  All my allen wrenches won't reach that screw.

My pistol grip started to come loose today while burning off some rounds.

Thanks

What a great time to replace that hex head with the proper slot-headed screw. The latter can be fixed with widely available drivers and field expedients as needed.

Why would you call replacing the allen screw an upgrade?

Once I know the size, I can now head to sears, grab a T-handle allen wrench.  I expected to need some AR15 specific tools.  This is just one of them.

imho the hex cap screw is much better than a slotted screw, much easier to tighten and easier to torque down on one.

less chance of stripping the head too

This makes me think of another question.  Is there a torque spec on that allen bolt?  I'd hate to strip out the threads.

Just snug it down and it will be fine.
