How do I get this thing off? Does it take a special tool? it seems to me the notched ring on the outside of the reciever serves as a lock ring am I wrong? If so where do I get the tool that takes it off? And just for reference it is a collapsible stock that came with a RRA lower reciever.

At the bottom of this page:

When you take off the stock, watch out for the detent and spring that held in place by the end plate under the ring you're removing.

just un screw it with this

and make sure you do not lost the spring and detent ( for your safety )

and be sure you do not bend the spring when you replace the rear plate

take note where the buffer tube is and make sure you put it back like it was.

And don't lose the buffer retainer and spring
