Dont hold me to this, but I believe the target price is around $600 for the VIS without a barrel.  The customer would get the receiver assembly (with or with out a bolt assist), a new
barrel nut and a disposable barrel wrench.

Looks very interesting!

But what's the concept behind the modular option for bolt assist? Not that I use mine often, but I can't see why it would hurt?

Could you explain the concept of the disposable barrel wrench?

Just to have a monolithic upper and removable forward assist?

Forward assist or not? Just an option I guess.

disposable wrench - the barrel nut is non standard and the wrench included will be to install a barrel on the VIS.  It wont be of any use on a standard barrel nut, so its basically a VIS only. Disposable is the wrong term, my bad.

Okay, a "proprietary" barrel wrench. That makes sense!

Looks very interesting.

Big bore-

When can I buy mine? Are they delivering now or a year from now? I hope now!

Nice Hijack! Your buddy must be Jealous or Nervous. Which one is it?

If Eric (of Vltor) designed it, I think he did well. I'm a customer for life, or at least until General Dynamics buys them.....

The idea is to make the upper receiver adapt to the user and the purpose... you can have an FA but some applications and users dont want it really - subguns, accuracy rigs, whatever.

The design also allows for the use of add-ons of interest to current military development.

Totally freaking sweet!

A few questions though.
Does this take standard bolts/bolt carriers/charging handles?
Judging by the design I'm pretty sure it is, but does it free float the barrel?
Last but not least, is VLTOR ready to dominate the modular AR15 upper market?

Don't you just love these "just before SHOT" announcements??

It looks like the one-piece upper/rail market is going to get alot more competitve.

Some folks in Texas are working on this:

Hey! Nice picture! Mark should do like a run of 100 autographed prints... will they be offered framed? matted?

Not even going to ask how the forward extrusion is joined to the receiver body

Where did that come from? I am more than sure that is not being discussed.

I like the Laure,

My guess on the modular defector/FA is that to have it intergated they would have to use a bigger extrustion or billet  and would requare a lot more machine work.

Very, very interesting...

The frst time a scanned throught the pictures I was thinking it had a QD system for standard barrels!  I guess I got a bit ahead of myself but it still looks like a great system.  I'm looking forwrd to seeing some more details like weight as well as some hands on reviews.
