Will the M4 RAS fit a heavy profile barrel?

I'm thinking no, but I'm hoping yes.

Thanks.

Well, I read on Quarterbore's website that it will only work on barrles that are "0.835 inches - 0.855 inches diameter just after the front sight tower".  I measured mine with my caliper and it read 0.8775 inches.  It is an 11.5 inch 7.62x39 barrel.  Maybe the 7.62 hbars are thicker than the 5.56 hbars?  I've ordered the RAS so I guess I'll find out if it fits or not.  I may swap the RAS for the Surefire M73 that I have on my 11.5 5.56.  I think the ARMS 38-ex on the 7.62 may interfere with the RAS anyways.  The M73 is shorter and may fit better with the 38-ex.

Thanks for the help.

Hey, how did that work out?

The 7.62 x 39 HB definately seems to be thicker than the 5.56 HB (although I didn't measure it).  I moved the Surefire over and am going to put the RAS on the 5.56.  It should arrive Friday (I believe).  I'll try and remember to post the results.

Got the RAS today.

Someone had IMed me and gave me a hint on how to get this to work.

The RAS wouldn't quite fit the HB as it came.  There is a hooklike part that fits into the barrel nut and is tightened down by a screw.  The RAS fit when I removed this part.  It still feels rock solid, but I probably won't mount any optics on it since there isn't anything keeping it from spinning if enough pressure was applied.
