What is the difference in handguard caps?

[ARCHIVED THREAD] - What is the difference in handguard caps?

Are these brand specific? does it matter if you have triangular versus round. Are there advantages to either one. Sorry if this is redundant buy I can't find these answers on search. Thx

Traditionally, rifle barrels have a triangle and carbine length barrels have a round one.
The handguards are made accordingly.
There are likely different handguards that would only work on one style and probably many that work on both.

midlengths come in either round or trangle.

different handguard caps require specific handguards.

The mids that I have seen all had the triangle caps.
But I know some company makes the mids with round caps -- does anyone know who that would be ?

All rifle lengths should have trangle caps.

two types of round ones...Car handguard caps and some commercial carbine caps are complete circles...M4 caps have two cutouts on the bottom for clearance with an M203.
