How do you measure a AR15 barrel for length? I bought a 11.5 barrel I want to add an 5 inch flashider  on it , but first would like to make sure it is 11.5 inches. Where do I start ? Where do I end?

The same as any rifle - close the bolt on an empty chamber, drop a dowel down the bore.  Mark dowel, remove and measure.

Make sure that you count the thread overlap of the barrel and flash suppressor. A 11.5" barrel will require a 5.5" flash suppressor that is permanently attached to be legal on a non-SBR.
