Is the free float tube for a 20" barrel called a standard length tube by the various distributers?
The carbine length is easy to understand, and the mid length, so this may be the dumbass questin of the night.
Thanks,
Jim

I've always seen "rifle length", or hte more specific "12.0" in reference to the length in inches of the handguard.

Both Larue Tactical and Daniel Defence offer rifle length FF hand guards. There are others on the market as well, but I believe these are the best.

How about the FF tubes from Al's Custom shop? Good?

If you're going to get a tube without rails, then I strongly suggest you check out the carbon fiber tubes.  Those aluminum tubes get HOT, and with no rails, you can't attach rail panels to protect you from the heat.

Hiperform, Clarks Custom, and I think even DPMS (or Oly) has one now too.

Of course the expensive but nice PRi tube is carbon fiber AND has rails.

I am looking at the 4 rail tube here near the bottom of the page. It's the last tube on the page. It seems to be a very good price.
I do plan on attaching at least a bipod, and maybe a light.
