The two won't seem to fit together.

The trouble looks like its in the back takedown pin area.  Like the hole in the bushmaster upper is slightly off (because the post is too long).

got the back pin pushed through, but the front won't.

It is common for the rear lug area of RRA lowers to be extremely tight.  Get out your file and mallet and start fitting and pounding.  You'll want to file your upper receiver to fit your lower receiver.  Take material off the rear part of the rear lug of the upper receiver.

Just got it together, really tight, no pounding or sanding or filing, just kind of wiggling and stuff.
maybe it will loosen up.

My Bushmaster upper/RRA lower was really tight when I first put it together. It loosened up over time though.
