I have a former Bushy Shorty AK. It has the A1 upper, which I like...alot. No plans to change that.

But I am looking to go to a railed fore end in order to fwd mount a dot and VFG. After looking at what is out there the ARMS #51 has caught my attention. Mainly due to it's claim of easy installation and the free float is an added bonus.

Has anyone got any experience with this system?

If so, how much is the carry handle sight channel obstructed by the mount...ie: enough to be distracting when using the iron sights?

How stable is the system?

And finally, hows the width of the handguard in comparison to an M4 plastic handguard?

I'm not to concerned with weight, or with mounting optics on the reciever (carry handle). Looking to find a good solid red dot and VFG (and possibly a light later on) mounting platform.

Thanks for any input!
