WOW is all i can say denny. That looks just as awesome is i thought it would. I cant wait 2 slap it on my lower, and when all my other parts arrive, i will definately post pics. As usual awesome build, and your a great guy to deal with. Im proud that i was your first afghan build. It sucks that i dont have the fire breathing pig on my KFH though.

I am surprised his CO is going to let him use it, the Marine Corps is pretty conservative about that sort of thing.  I know a few Capts (one an activated reservist and the other AD)  that brought uppers with them to Iraq to make shorties and they were told by in no uncertain terms no way in hell.

ETA- My bust, I didn't read it was for his recreational usage.

That's one of the nicest looking rifles I've seen on this board.  Outstanding configuration.  I love the modularity of these guns; we're only limited by our own creativity.

So what kind of groups is it shooting with what ammo?

Denny is sending it out 2 me today so im not sure of groups yet. He test shot it yesteday with 55gr nato greentip and said he was gettin 2" groups at 100 yrds. If u use some MK262 im sure grouping will be a whole shit load better.

Denny,

What receiver block is that you're using to secure the upper in your vise?

(Uhoh, is my AR lust fading?  I was more interested in the block than the upper!  But it is a pretty upper. )

I was asking to compare to what my 14.5" Noveske build is doing--
www.jobrelatedstuff.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=12&t=249441
It's nearly identical, but with a Bilock for the suppressor instead of the KFH.
Send me a PM when you get a chance to test yours.

best
Zak

What's the practical range and accuracy potential of the 14.5" Afghan barrel?  I know they're very accurate. I was just thinking something like this may just be the perfect walking-varminter-extreme-Dissy build I've been thinking of.

Nosekes website has a pic of an AFGHAN that is in A'stan and making hits to 725 when fed the right ammo.  It uses a Short Dot.

VERY nice!

I'm looking at one of these for my next build.  I'm toying with the possibility of a 14.5 Afgan bbl turned down and having the KFH permanently affixed to keep my legal 16.1".

Looks real good Denny, I've been watching this and Zak's thread.   Nice equipment!

One question-  With the Noveske Krink being permanently attached, I take it you wouldn't be able to remove the Larue rail later on if needed... But would it be removable had a newer model Vortex been permanently installed instead?   I saw Zak's photo on page 3 in his thread, and it looked possible with a new Gemtech BiLock.

The LaRue tube fits easily over the Bilock's lugs-- there's actually more clearance than going over the LT gas block.

This means I can swap out that 13.2 for a 9.0 to reduce weight if I want to, without removing anything else.

Yep, you're reading my mind.    Considering the accuracy of these barrels, this combo might have more end-user flexibility than an "one fixed length" MRP package with different length barrels.   And still cost less.    Go lightweight one day...

I wanted a vortex originally but Denny doesnt perm attach them for some odd reason. He told me but i forgot. Figured that id use the KFH since its unique. Im still kinda bummed that Denny didnt have any of the fire-breathing pig KFH's though.

That's sweet.  I've been itching to see that spec as a complete build!

I guess I'm inclined to do the KFH on a 16.1 to avoid having another perm'd FH in the quiver.

Yeah the only downside to the build is the perm KFH but i can deal with it.

Oh yeah I also have some shots of the upper mounted. Im still waiting on some of my parts so it isnt 100% complete but it gives u a good idea of the base gun before adding accesories. Im to lazy 2 resize them so they are thumbnailed. Enjoy
