I traded into a colt govt. profile 1/7 ban barrel.  Since it's a bare muzzle, I was thinking about having it cut back to 18 inches and threaded for a normal flash suppressor.  With the govt. profile, it should be very handy with 2 inches of the thicker part of the barrel removed.

Will this cause reliability problems?
Does the gas port need to be enlarged?

I have had a few 20" and 24" barrels cut by Adco to 18". I had zero problems and nothing but benefits from the 18" length. Go for it! I want to have a SP1 barrel done next.

Thanks for the good news!  I'm going to look for some pictures where others have done it.
