First let me state that the facts and opinions I'm going to give are from personal experience. I've used all 3.

Tango Down - It's thicker than the KAC but a wee bit thinner than the CQD. It has internal water proof storage and a pocket for a tape switch. It can be attached and removed without tool but it has to slide onto the rail from the front. Designed for mil-spec rails, it will have to "tweaked" to fit on non-spec rails. This also means it might be a little loose (I do mean a little) on some rails. Since it's plastic, it won't get hot from weather conditions or extended firing. It weighs 3.6 oz.

CQD - Without a doubt, it is the most robust VFG available. The rail it is attached to will probably be destroyed before it is.  It's constructed of aluminum which means you may want to either use gloves or wrap it in paracord (I did the later) when using it. It attaches to the rail with a cross clamp and 3 screws so it attaches from the side vs. sliding on from the front. The base is pretty wide. It takes about more "rail estate" than the other 2 mentioned here. It has a waterproof internal storage compartment and slots for wires that lead to the slot for a tape switch.

KAC - This is pretty much the one that all others are judged by. It's has the smallest diameter of the three which some prefer, especially when using gloves. It slides onto the rail from the front and is secured on the rail by tightening the bottom which pushes the nub at the top of the core in the rail. This is a very secure connection which does not require tools to remove. Like the TD, it is constructed of plastic so it won't get hot. While it has no internal storage or tape switch slot, these things can easily be remedied. If you need storage, you can get a replacement core from GG & G. If you want to put a tape switch on it, you can use a piece of bicycle inner to hold the switch in place.

Anyolne like the GGG..?   Seems rock solid to me.

I wish they would make a TangoDown style grip that attaches like the KAC or even the CQD.  I love the feel, construction and storage area of the TD grip, but I hate how it attaches.  You need fingers of steel to remove this thing. Pplus it does have a very very slight wiggle (yes I am using a mil-spec rail).

Got one and like it very much.  Been on my Colt for a couple years now.  My Colt is often used/carried in the field (LEO) and the grip has held up well.

Can anyone tell me if the Tango Down will fit a KAC - RAS II without all the hammering and filing I've heard of?

I have two KAC grips and was thinking about getting a Tango Down for the storage.

It's still a bit of a crap shoot. When I had one on a KAC FF RAS, it too a little work to get one but it did not have to be filed or pounded on.

I've got TD VFGs on Larue and DD rails and they're both pretty tight. They have just a wee bit of wobble.

Do you take your VFG on and off very often? If so, how quickly do you need to take it on and off? Seroiously. If not, don't worry about it for second.

I never realized I had "fingers of steel." The TD vertical grip on my LaRue rail has zero wiggle.

I have a small safe and my stuff won't fit inside with the VG attached.  I know, get a bigger safe.  A bigger safe would be heavier and go through my wooden floor.    I'd have to crawl under the house to get to my stuff.

+1 on the KAC, carried one at work for five years whenever I didn't have a 203.

Then get the KAC.  It comes off easily.

I don't like the TD personally.  Too hard to get on and the grip is too fat.  I don't have huge hands but they aren't small either and it's just too big.  It's well made though.

Anyone with an ACE L'td vert grip?  One of those stubby ones?  Is the diameter too thick?  Looks like it might be....

Does anyone use the TDI SVG?

I like the compact size, and the allen screw looks like it would be more stable than my KAC VFG.  Any opinions?  Thanks.

I am curious about this one as well.  I also would like to get some feed back on the SOG Armory vertical grip.  Maybe we can have a mod/administrator give this thread a tack.  Vertical grip questions always seem to come up.

They are good and solid.

Have had twoof the TDI grips and it's a nice stable foregrip. I like the shorter profile, it helps when prone somewhat with a 20 rounder length mag. I've never had a problem with them coming loose and the storage is not bad. The rubber plug seams to fit tight enough. The fatter profile (based off of an HK MP5K is a nice comfortable design and makes you choke up on it. The only drawback is that it does not lend itself to applying tape switches.

Otherwise, I highly recommend them.

So far, so good for mine as well, though I don't use it "in the field" much.

Yup I just bought one for shits and grins but now decided that I like it.  The thickness is just fine as it fills up your hand but not overly so.  I used to use the Brownells VFG: way too long.  The only thing about the ACE that I somewhat don't like is the way it is mounted.  Either with the plastic screws that gets eaten up fast or a couple of set screws = no easy on/off capabilities.

Try some inner tube to cover the tape swicth?

The TD is more girthy than the KAC or CQD.  <bevis> hehe, he said girthy...</bevis>  Which is another reason many don't like the TD.  Personally, I have gon back to the KAC.

I like the simplicity of the CQD and KAC but I giv the CQD the top spot.  Other than the potential heat transfer it is all that is needed in a foregrip.  I wear gloves 99% of the time but also have a tube on it which seems to do the trick.  Plus it is rock solid and I don't need anything breaking when it matters.

The CQD looks the part. All those aspirant pornographers, take note.

I don't think heat transfer is an issue if you run FF handguards.

situations will arise that require even your vertical grip to take a tweaking.  I would rather have my vert grip shit the bed than have my coveted free float fore end slot get knocked out of whack  and render it  useless.  Having tried most, I would say the the KAC vert grip fits that bill. YMMV.

When I had my AR, I loved the SOG Armory vertical grip.  I'm really picky so all the other grips had something about them that I didn't like.  Tango Down was too thick, CQD was expensive, and the Knight was the best compromise.  However, I wanted a textured grip so I went with the SOG Armory.  Get one, you won't be sorry!

I am going to do so, because for me a foregrip has to be QD-
which the TD unfortunately isn't.

I currently have a KAC unit on one of my AR's and was in the market for another. This unit from TAPCO got my attention. I do not know if it is crap (probably is), but I went ahead and ordered one. I should have it sometime next week and will give you guys a report of what I find.

What interested me was the finger grooves like a Surefire M900 series, the water tight battery compartment, KAC style locking body and the pressure switch pockets. Retail: $24.99. It looks promising.

If anyone has one, let me know if I will be disappointed or if I did good.

I am a bit of a grip whore. The SOG is one of my favorites. I like the size and feel. The rubber texture is cool to.

I use GG&G and KAC.  They have basically the same shape, the GG&G being slightly larger.  I think the GG&G is more durable and I like being able to store extra batts in it.

The TD is too fat for me, and I don't like how it is oval in shape.  I find this alters my grip too much when I have to do dynamic shooting around obstacles.  With the GG&G and KAC grips, the shape is completely uniform, so it feels the same regardless how how you grab it.

My only experience has been with the Dieter CQD but, it's been very solid.  The only drawback would be the time and tools(Allen Wrench) required to mount/dismount.  Customer service is top notch.  Mine came with a defectively tapped bevel/clamp bar and they replaced it immediately with no hassles.

I like the KAC, or the Tangodown if I'm running a pressure pad.
