Does anyone know if you can replace the stock handguards on a Bushmaster Dissipator with an ARMS Picatinny configuration rails type?
Thanks

Yes you can.  IIRC, ask Hawkeye and new-arguy, I think they both (or one of them) has a Dissipator with an ARMS rail.

Just remember your Dissy will weigh a ton with that rifle length SIR on there and the balance will be off unless you have an equally heavy buttstock. Does your Dissy have the M4 profile barrel? If so, the SIR will be a little more bearable.

The YHM rifle length rails fit....

Thanks again guys!!! Nice pic Lancelot.  I don't have the M4 barrel and have a standard A2 stock.  Lancelot how is the balance on your rifle with the adj stock?
Thanks to all!

It is nose heavy. The barrel had a lightweight conversion done on it by KKF and that helped. Anything you add to the front of your dissy will tip the balance forward. Even with a fixed stock you may notice it. ( but its all about looks )

The heavy muzzle feel can be a good thing, keeping it down for follow up shots. Or it can be bad as it creates fatigue when holding the rifle up for a long period of time.

The ARMS SIR will be slightly heavier then the YHM. The KAC M5 RAS will also fit, or should fit. So its all about what you want. If you go with a free float tube, you may need to change out the gas block.

Also wanted to let you all know that the Surefire railed handguard will not work with any of the gas blocks out there unless you first remove the upper half heat shield. I have a LT low profile gas block on my Dissy and the Surefire wouldn't even work with that.

IIRC the Samson and Troy FF handguards will work with a shaved (need to remove the corners) stock BM gas block and any of the low profile gas blocks (PRI, LT, etc).

My friend's Dissy uses a Bushy M4 profile bbl.  We did NOT have to replace the origional hacked gas block with a "low pro" gas block to install the LaRue 12.0 forend.

Just a little grinding and a little patience.

My Dissy is plenty heavy for me in this configuration:

Then again, maybe I need bigger guns to hold my gun...

vmpglenn nice gun porn!  Is that a Moss 590?  What stock and fore end is that on there?  Is that an ATN on it? I have a stock 590 and that pic got me thinking...

The shotgun is actually an FN Tactical Police Shotgun (TPS). It's basically a Winchester 1300 with some upgrades (AR-type sights, AR stock adapter, pistol grip). I added an Ace SOCOM adjustable stock and a Surefire lighted fore-end. The sight is an OKO red dot with the optional SC3 steel cage for Pic rails.

If you wanted a similar setup for your Mossy 590, you'd need a stock adapter from either Cav Arms or Mesa Tactical, the Ace SOCOM stock from Del-Ton, and this Surefire fore-end from Calvin at Brightflashlights (he's an Industry Partner on this site). A lot of guys with the 500/590 and the stock adapter/rails are running Eotechs, Aimpoints, and OKO dot sights. Pretty much anything you can mount up on an AR upper rail you can mount on a shotgun with the setup listed here. I'm not sure how you'd get a front sight and BUIS on the Mossy, though.

Have fun!
