Not gonna list a price so please don't ask. I don't want this thread locked because it looks like a sales pitch. Just research.

Posted some pics in the GD, and one of the guys gave me an idea that I could potentially sell these. Just curious if there is actually an interest in a cheaper dissipator bayonet because... I can make them. CMMG sells them for ~80$ or so. What do you think would be a fair price?

I have access to a mig welder, surface grinder,..etc

Heres some pics of the one I made for myself.

If you do a good job, as this one looks to be I'd imagine you could easily get $40-$60 if not the $80 that CCMG geets. I'd imagine that the problem would be getting good quality bayonets to work with.

Bayos would prolly just be the supply from DSG arms. Nothing fancy, but I'd price accordingly.

Function over form I guess.

Doesn't seem to be much of an interest for them. Oh well. Atleast I got one for myself

Also to add that I was thinking in the sub 40$ range. 80$ for a simple weld job is a ripoff. No offense to CMMG.. just the process wasn't that labor intensive.

Good job.  I do not have a dissapator myself, but it looks pretty slick.

That, and I thought you may need a bump.

you could use the removed steel to make bayos for 16" barreled carbines

Could do that, but not sure how great it'd look.

I'll buy 5 M7's tonight and see if I can make a 16" carbine version, then a couple dissie bayos for those who are currently interested or could be.

If anyone wants to be put on a mailing list for either, let me know. I'll only have access to a welder till the end up september but I'd be glad to make them for people till then.

Just had a great idea for the 16" carbine version to get rid of the gay looking 1 and a half handle look.

Could wrap the metal in black or OD paracord enough to give it some bulk. I have a 16" M4 barrel sitting here so when these bayos arrive, I'll get a prototype going of one that will work for it and see if it looks decent.

My girlfriend loves the "Dissy" Bayonet, she says "it really makes the rifle look complete".
She's no stranger to the military, her father was a foot soldier and fought in the Pacific in WWII (Marines), Korea (Army), and was in the Red Cross in Vietnam.  He received the Silver Star for combat in Korea.

Many thanks JE3146, at $40 this is a bargain and it looks terrific.
A few pics of the attached finished product.

I forgot all about this project.

Being completely ignorant about bayonets, can I use this on my Dissy with a vortex FS?

I sent you an IM.

If theres any interest for these things, IM me or email me, and I'll link you to a for sale thread via email within the coming days.

I don't want this to look like a for sale thread, but any questions I'll freely answer.

As I said in the IM, if the diameter is the same as an A2 flash suppressor, then it should fit to the best of my knowledge.

The length shouldn't be an issue.

I'd like to thank edwin for posting those nice pictures. The bayonets I recieved for this project were a little rattier than I had expected, so I took the time to coat them with semi-gloss black moly resin prior to final assembly. Gave it a nice polished look.

I think the one I sent edwin was nicer than the one I made for myself

I"m interested if it would fit my 10.5 inch barrel.  Cost would be a factor though.

From where the bayo fully clicks into the bayo lug, to the front part of the ring. (Total length) 2 3/4".

I don't own a 10.5" barrel or I'd measure for you, but that's the length of non-blade portion.

Hope that helps.
