If you had the money, would you invest in a new Panther Arms AP4 .308 (16" barrel) or a 6.8 Remington SPC, w/16" barrel.  I want a carbine, no doubt about that, but I'm ignorant regarding the 6.8 Remington and its ballistics.

The weapon would strictly be used for target shooting-both formal and informal-plinking/home defense...if necessary.  (Got my shotgun for that!)

What would YOU buy and why?

Id buy the .308 because the ammo is less expensive and easier to find...
