Opinions on them are not hard to find either but they don't matter. Do your research and in the end you will form your own opinion on what will work best for you. |

The YHM forends are a great buy. I've heard some people complain about them working loose...they use a jam nut to secure the tube. I got the YHM wrench, which works great on the jam nuts, you can *really* crank down on them. I've had NO trouble with my YHM tubes coming lose.
I'm a weekend shooter on a budget, so I don't have $300 to spend on railed forends...the YHMs work for me. |

What are the Yankee Hill tubes going for? If cost was a major concern, and LaRue 7" tubes can be had for just under $250, I'd have a hard time buying anything other tube unless it was significantly less than that...

YHM Forends aren't terrible for the money. They just aren't in the same quality level as the LaRue, Daniel Defense. If you can afford around $250 the LaRue or the DanielDefense will both be great forends.

Other info you might not be aware of that might help. The spec operations Crane, selected three handguards as the ones they wanted, and gave three different contracts out, to KAC, ARMS, and Daniel Defense, at $16,666.666 to each comany. Go from there, but they are for the carbine length, your 20" is a crap shoot depending on your needs. Jack |

LaRue is hard to beat. Daniel Defense is a close second. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either of these.
The DD is a bit lighter weight than the LaRue. The LaRue is machined from a single piece of aluminum, where the DD is welded. The LaRue also has a unique locking "key" that prevents the handguard nut from ever working loose and also helps align the top rail with the upper receiver rail. These are my two favorite handguard rail systems. Regarding upper receivers, I think the Stag and RRA receivers will both serve you well. If you were like me and had to have one of everything, I'd get one of each. Just a thought.  I've built many rifles with RRA parts and I find them to be very good quality. I tend to like Bushmaster barrels over the RRA barrels though. I prefer the chrome lining (without paying an extra fee for it) and I also like the M4 profile for my carbines. I have more than one rifle with a RRA upper and a Bushy barrel.
