Could you tell the difference in sound if measured with a Db reader with and without a Krink brake??

I understand it mainly forces blast and sound forward away from shooter but is there a noticeable Db diff??

Inquiring minds want to know?!?!???

Yes I understand its popular with those in the "Know" especially in CQB/automobile applications. But Im just curious if it actually reduces sound levels. Or if its just directs sound more in front of shooter than typical side blast with A2.I know its not a suppressor.

Didnt Knights have something that attatches to their QD mount that tried to duplicate the same thing??

that is not a break, or even a flash hider..........those are more in line as a booster, in helping cycle a AK with a short barrel. putting one on a AR, isn't going to do anything, except to make it look different

Wrong.
It directs sound away from the shooter and those standing next to him. The best example of this is a bullhorn-type thing that cheerleaders use. It just focuses sound into one small conical direction, instead of the frontal 180 degrees in front of the barrel. It makes a huge difference indoors and other confined spaces. Testimonies by Pat Rogers, David Pennington, Tim Lau and others all confirm this.

Are you going to sell it, I have been looking for a pistol upper....that would be perfect.

let me know how $$$, can you build another like it?

Actually, someone posted their experience with this brake and it does a whole lot more than just make an AR "look different".

Here's the thread: Noveske Krinkov Flash Hider (pic and thoughts)

Jm03,

If it reduced the overall dB rating, it would be classified as a sound suppressor, thus an NFA item. What the Noveske KFH does is redirect sound and blast forward. This minimizes sound and blast perceived by those directly beside (and slightly forward of) the shooter. The perceived sound by the shooter is also reduced.

I tried a little experiment last weekend.  I shot my 11.5"/Krink next to a standard 11.5"/A2.  The Krink gun was noticeably more pleasant to fire and to be on the line with.  HOWEVER, when you get forward of the muzzle of the Krink, you suddenly find out where all that noise is going!  (Don't try this at home, airsofters) but I had a trusted friend launch some lead in my direction at a range of 10 yards or so, using both guns.  The Krink about peeled my eyebrows off.

Then, I was doing some shoot on the move drills, and when I closed to within about 15' of the target (cardboard IPSC type) the reflected blast was so intense it hurt even through earplugs.

Conclusion - it works great, but you don't want to be downrange of it (of course, as was aptly stated over on 10-8, if you're downrange of it you have bigger problems than owie ears.)

Thanks for posting that modog. That's some good info to know. It makes me wonder is a Krink equipped AR could act as a primitive flash-bang at 5 yds or less.

It sure as hell isn't going to do you any good on that end.  I shot some white paper at close range (<5 feet) to see if any particulate was being ejected that could hurt someone in a hostage rescue type scenario, and the paper was not perforated other than by the bullet.

In other words, the Bulgy style Noveske attachments exhibit the property of gain.

Right, so if you had a meter the db rating would be less by your ear and increased in front of the muzzle, resulting in no net reduction of sound. It would be interesting to see the actual numbers.

Well regardless, I officially hate this site again, there goes another Benjamin .

Use soem degreaser on the threads and then apply some blue loctite. Use a strap wrench and you are GTG.

Less 'perceived' sound at the shooters position is something that could be measured by a dB meter, irrespective of the fact that its not a suppressor.

Perhaps I"ll get one and run such a test.

Let us know if you do.Thats pretty much what I was asking when I replied on page 1.

Regardless if it does or not,the Krink would definately be the HEAT for a 10.5!!!
