Please, don't do it.  

If you need to borrow a 1-3/16x16 tap, I can lend you one!  Or you could even weld it and file down the portion of the weld that impinges on the threads.  Are you sure that the lower wasn't bent in the process of hammering?  If so, the bolt carrier / buffer path might not be straight even if the lower is welded.

Go for it, Tony. I knew a guy back in high school who welded the cylinder heads onto a motor because he couldn't find the head bolts.

Doesn't have to work forever or be a gun I'd stake my life on -- it just has to make it through a mag or two, to prove it can be done.



I suggest sending it to BATFE.  Give them 2 hours, and I bet they can dump a mag full auto.
