Just what it says.
I'm planning a 18" 6.8mm project and would prefer a birdcage or no brake, just wandered if it will suffer or will I suffer?  Hows the flash, jump, etc etc...

Thanks in advance fellas

Only a select few will know that....

The recoil from a rifle with a 20' barrel (6.8 SPC) is almost like an AK, but a little less.

dude, if you are worried about the kick of that little 6.8, which is in other words a .270 caliber, phew, you need to come shoot some of my guns.
Not busting nuts or anything, but if you're worried about say how much jump while shooting varmits, probably not much.
Not like a custom 458 lott that weighs 8 pounds.

I haven't shot my 18" upper with no muzzle attachment, but with a 308 Vortex, recoil is a little more than 556 with bare muzzle.  Nowhere near 308 from an AR10.

If you want recoil... try one of the new PTR-91's (copy of H&K 91)

Not sure whether it's better to be behind this rifle or in front of it.

Feels like someone punching you in the face every time you pull the trigger.

Thanks guys for all the info.  And no, Im not worried about the recoil so much as jump and flash.  I have sat at the range with my .300 Win Mag Sendero and shot 100 rounds in a day, so I'm not "scared" either.
I'm just weighing my options and want to make the best educated decision.  It should end up 18" fluted, 6.8 mm, plinker, varmint, deer, etc  Just an all around gun.

So, sugestions?  Yes/No on the FH or brake?  If yes, which one?

Only good choice on a brake/comp right now is MSTN's QC Comp.

I don't know if there are any other f/h choices besides the 308/PSS Vortex (5/8-24) or Armalite's A2-style AR10 f/h.

The blast is about half  as bad as 7.62, and the kick is about double of a 5.56.

Kinda like I said, are you more worried about muzzle jump, getting scope back on target quick when shooting prairie dogs or groundhogs, or any other vermin?
