I'm thinking about getting this for my A2 since it's not free-float, and I can put it on myself. Has anyone put this on their rifle? I just want to get an idea of how well made it is, since it's a 2 piece. It looks solid. It includes 4 rail covers. Botcah Tactical has it for $249, does anyone else sell them cheaper? Thanks.

The only non-freefloat Over $200 I would buy is the Surefire. And even then, I would buy a LaRue FF rail or another GG&G for that kind of money.

I'd like to be able to have a rail handguard without it having to clamp on a front sight tower

This is not a problem for me. I have a sling thing clamped there now, and I like the idea of having the other rail there for a flashlight. I don't see the problem here.

Buy a TROY MRF-C. It is a much better choice...

True true, but you can't use the TDI handguard on an upper that has no front sight, limiting its versatility. I'd sooner get a RASII. The TDI rail handguard also has no provisions for the ubiquitous KAC rail panels, sure you can get other rail panels, but again it limits options.

If you can find a 9.5 FSP from Daniel Defense, that would be a good option. it has the rail that extends to the FSB to give more mounting positions. AND it's free float.

I think you would be much better off to add $100. or so bucks and getting the ARMS SIR system #50C. simple to put on, free float, selective rails, bi-level, slim line, and no covers needed that make others too wide, etc. etc.

Problem is there is a GIGANTIC choice of options for railed handgaurds like these. A lot of them do the same things as the others, yet some do a little more. I think the general consensus is that there reallyisnt anything BAD about this system in and of itself, but so many others do more things or better things. So while there may not be an immediate and compelling reason not to get it, theres not really any compelling reasons to get it either. Especially considering all the many other options. If you can agree so far, you now why you are getting the replies you see here suggesting other options.

That's made in Israel. I'd rather spend my money on one of the many American made rail systems instead.
