Should be fine as is. May have to do some work to the extractor given the higher port pressures generated by the shorter barrel. Will also want to confirm the headspace. Most parts over there military surplus?

Replacement parts here are new. Major brands available here.
Maybe it would be better to leave the rifle as it is. |

Its my one and only AR at the moment.
Thus it serves as my defense and target/plinking rifle. An all purpose AR, if ever you could call it one. I just thought an 11.5 inch barrel would be easier to handle. |

Anything under 16" has to be registered......Be careful, If you put an 11.5 on an unreg firearm you will have to have a welded on brake to make the total length 16", if this is the case then what is the point

 arcana1214, Just be warned that the 11" is going to increase muzzle flash (use a Vortex/Phantom) muzzle blast (a suppressor works for both) and decrease muzzle velocity. The lowered MV will alter the terminal effects of your chosen load. They are handier but at a cost. 14.5-16" is a good "all around" length. |
