I've searched the last 30days archive, but I'm looking for a few more opinions...  Who's used these 1/7" chrome-lined barrels, and what do you think of them?

Quality of manufacture, finish, accuracy, reliability, please comment on them all.  Thanks in advance...

I have had nothing but good luck with my CMMG barrel, I have a 1/7 chrome lined 16" M4 upper from them. They are the best out there in my opinion. Every build I do from now on will have a CMMG barrel on them. Thanks Arvin

I have a 14.5", perm. phantom ff, 1/7" chromed CMMG upper. Looks great, shoots better. I liked it so much I bought another 20" C7A1 chrome upper.

Love mine (14.5").

No problems with any kind of feeding or function.

Finish looks great.

I can't honestly say I've ever done any serious benchrest shooting with mine, so can't comment on serious accuracy (bt that's also because I can't shoot worth a crap ).

But when benching other various 1/7 chrome lined barrels VS. other 1/9 barrels at 100 yards with 55 grain ammo (thanks Mousegun for doing the shooting ), I couldn't tell any difference. So if barrel twist is your concern, I doubt it will affect it much at fairly close range.

Honestly, I don't think you could do wrong by a CMMG barrel/upper.

I've got one of CMMG's 16", 1/7 barrels with over 8000 rounds through it and so far it's been flawless even with Wolf ammo!  I wouldn't hesitate to get another one, in fact I'm getting one their mid-length 16" barrels that being offered through Giffman's group buy in the Equipment Exchange forum...

I have a couple of them and I'm extremely satisfied

My 14.5" has over 6000 rounds through it now.  In fact, I won the rifle competition with it at BRD last month!  So it's not only a great M4 barrel but is very accurate to boot.

CMMG's stuff is awesome!  I've got around 10 of their 1/7 chrome-lined barrels in different configs and they run great on my M16.  John and Jeff are awesome!

I have a CMMG 16" M4 barrel and have had no problems with it's reliability.  On the down side I have noticed that it is not as accurate at my Bushmaster 16" M4 barrel at 100 yards.  The Bushmaster is a 1.25" - 1.5" MOA barrel while the CMMG barrel is a solid 2" - 2.25" MOA barrel.

i have a CMMG 14.5' 1/7 chrome lined. i bought mine when they first got them maybe almost 2 years ago. back then it was said that they were DPMS overruns for a government contract bid. DPMS didnt get the contract and sold off the barrels. now it appears ot be a regular production item. i love it. some will say they dont like the cast FSB (if its really cast) but i would put mine up against a Colt or Bushy anyday. excellent for a parts built M4. my rifle is:

CMMG M4 barrel
T-numbered flattop upper from a gunshow
Bushmaster BCG with D-fender
Bushmaster LPK
Century lower  (made by continental machine)
Cav Arms M4 stock (green)
Cav Arms M4 handguard  (green)
Hogue green grip

Scuttlebutt is that older barrels were DPMS-made and had cast FSB's.  Now, CMMG barrels are supposedly not DPMS barrels, but an entity all their own.  Forged FSB on these new ones, too.  Can anyone confirm that?

Yes, all their barrels now have a forged front sight base.  Consider it confirmed

Good lord, what DON'T you have?

My recent question de jour: do they fire proof loads thru them, and then mag inspect?

Larry - Generally the manufacture is kept semi-secret so you may not find the answer you are looking for.  Keep in mind that there are only a few places make barrels, forge uppers and lowers, etc so a lot of the same folks use parts from the same places.

For about $75.00 ADCO would remove your brake and perm install a Phantom.  Much cheaper than a complete rebarrel.
