DAMN all of you MRP owners--ESPECIALLY pcurtis!!

Edited to add:  I think the MRP is the BEST thing to happen to the AR/M16 family.  How much more modularity can you possibly have than this?  As long as the zero isn't affected too much by the quick change barrel system or some other weakness is found (like the bolts), I think has to be the shiznit of all AR configurations, no?

I'd like to be able to shoot 12GA through an AR upper.

Well, you asked.

I don't know.  I'm guessing not without modification of the gas port location & size and/or the BCG operating system (think: Ceiner).

Rumor has it that Colt submitted an MRP-type setup to SCAR that uses standard barrels.

That, IMHO, is the shiznit.

Curtis, that's sweet.

Where'd you score your BCG at?

I have a bad cold, and am half out of my mind on Nyquil, so correct me if I'm wrong: aren't the SS barrels
actually made by Mike Rock?

JLM,

The Colt BCG came from my "spares" kit that I have built up over the years for just such occasions & any breakage. The only non-Colt BCG I use is an LMT Chrome BC in my MSTN 6.8SPC carbine. As to the SS barrel, thats what the rumor is... And they are shooters.

Damn, Wes. Now I really have to seriously consider a MRP twin (probably rifle length), on top of the upper you are currently building. Glad, the Chief likes to shoot also. Wonder which MRP she's going to claim?

I wouldn't hold my breath. I think that whole thing has been over blown.

Colt submitted a MRP style monolithic upper with detachable lower panel and modified barrel nut using the standard barrel.  it is no where near quick release like the MRP.  It is like saying the XM8 has a QD barrel but you still need armor assistance to remove the barrel nut with a special torque wrench.  and why have a detachable lower panel??  so you can install the M203??  that just defeats the purpose of a free float barrel.  MRP is the way to go, modular and solid.  a true QD barrl system with speciificaaly desing rail mounted M203.  Besides, Colt is lock in law suite, i wonder if it will ever make it pass the SCARS.

Colt submitted 3 entries for SCAR, two of which were one-piece uppers of different configurations.  Wait and see, some interesting products will be hitting the market shortly.
