Sorry for the duplicate thread, but it didn't last too long (don't want to keep using btt) in the other forum...this might be a better one for it anyways. I'm looking for pics of beat to crap, well worn, or well used AR15s. Whether it be an EE special, gun show parts bin gun, or an old SP1 that was used as a tool instead of a safe queen, I'd like to see the pics. Who here has the most worn AR? Thanks in advance!

What's a good way to wear down an AR? You know, to give it that look.

I remember seeing some California Prison Trade-ins about 6-7 years ago at the Dayton gun show...looking at them, prison work is a good way to beat up an AR.

Whether it be an EE special, gun show parts bin gun...

Okay, I'll play.

I bought this upper off a gun show table for the grand sum of $100 in the late '80s. It appears to be M16A1 that someone home-flattopped before the real ones became common. No sights or bolt carrier for that price, and it had a funky homemade muzzle brake. The top of the upper had an aluminum block bolted on, then some kind of Weaver base bolted onto that. I added a $40 gun show 3-9 scope, A2 handguards, and a stock A1 flash hider. Already had an extra bolt. Then I bought a Quality Parts (now Bushmaster) complete lower for it for $150 (at that time), giving me a complete beater AR for around $300. Stupid thing shoots into an inch or thereabouts @ 100 with cheap 55 grainers.

These days it spends most of its time with an M261 conversion in it, as most of my .223 shooting is done with my midlength. But this one of course retains full .223 capability while shooting 1/2" or better groups @ 25 with cheap .22 ammo (1:12 barrel). Couple weekends ago I was sniping fist-sized rocks and dirt clumps off the 125-yard backstop with it--I consider that remarkable accuracy from a .22 conversion with cheap Walmart ammo. Sorry if it's not "beat" enough for what you're looking for but it was sure cheap!

Best damn post I've seen in a long time.

Was the barrel sawed down and rethreaded on that thing?

Looks like it might be an old Reflex-style can. Is it a Sionics?

I believe it is one of the HEL variants, but I am not sure.  It was a back over the barrel suppressor.

LOL, next to the infamous "FLUFFY" thread, the "how do I wear the finish on my rifle" thread was the greatest.

Beater-in-Progress: My DPMS .22LR M4 on its lovely new post-ban telestock. The kid and I have put more rounds through this thing in the last three months than I've fired of .223 in the last 20 years.

Sight is a $32 Walmart BSA red dot, which works fine for this application. Been teaching my 98-pound female coworker to shoot lately and a couple weeks ago she used this rig to put every shot on a 4-inch square at 25 yards. Standing. Offhand. Did I mention that she had never fired a rifle before in her life?

I'm really not sure.  It was issued to me by Uncle Sam  right after I volunteered for the Battalions LRRP team(1968).  The only thing I did was try to keep it clean and well fed.

It's a little beat up... But it worked! I'll see if I can't get some pics of my new work gun when I go back. It sees more rounds through it than most folks can imagine.
