got my colt LE6920 today!
Very strange differences from other posts and pictures on this site.
1. my rifle says colt defense not colt mfg.
2. my rife says safe and fire not safe and semi.
3. my rifle says law enforcement carbine one side and three lines of restricted info on the other.
4. my rifle has M4 feed ramps but upper has no M4 marking.

what is the deal. are there two versions of the same model?

That sounds right - the LEO rifles are marked Colt Defense, have the "restricted" engraving and are called "LE Carbine".

What makes you think it should say something else?

many pictures on this site clearly show colt mfg vs colt defense
many pictures also show semi instead of fire.
both guns have same model and name colts law enforcement carbine.

This one (a 9mm) says Colt Defense.  Don't worry about it.

My LE6920 has:

1. Colt Defense marking
2. Safe and Semi markings
3. Colts Law Enforcement Carbine and Restricted markings
4. M4 feedramps and M4 marking
5. C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7 barrel marking
6. White T-numbers
7. Diemaco and splintered A forge markings
8. F marked FSB

What are your barrel markings and are there any markings behind your brass deflector?

i rechecked mine and found the M4 stamp on the upper. i was not looking in the correct place.

mine is like yours BUT mine says fire instead of SEMI. my colt packing slip on the plastic rifle bag says march 2004. could there be a date when colt stop using semi and used fire or visa versa?

c and keyhole symbol behind defelector.

c mp 5.56 1/7 on bbl

another thing is in the manual that came with the rifle it says that the selector is marked safe and fire. the manual is titled Ar-15 with no mention of the law enforcement model.

My markings are identical to the receiver on the bottom.  The marking on the left represents Diemaco, a Colt licensed manufacturer in Canada.  They make weaponry for the Canadian military.  The marking on the right represents Anchor Harvey, the forge where the raw receiver was made.
